Hey Bethzy! To answer your question and something I wish I would've realized earlier is that Medicine or becoming a doctor involves a lot of studying and a lot of effort and its a very very long road to take. I always wanted to be a doctor and I made it but in the process I realized that it is way more effort and way too long than I had expected. Having said that I have no regrets, I absolutely love what I do and it is a great feeling to be treating patients and putting a smile on their faces. Its not a bed of roses for sure, you'll have some very difficult times and some very happy moments, but in the end it is all worth it. About time in school, I'm a medical graduate from India, and it is a little shorter here to finish medical school, but still much longer than other fields to start earning good. It all depends on how motivated you are, how much passion you have towards the field and how dedicated you are to finish this race. If you have all the above said things, it is not bad at all. Just keep going and it wont seem so difficult in the end, and it is definitely worth the time and money invested.

Hi there! I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner. I was a nurse for 10 years prior to becoming a provider and having bedside, hands on experience before being a provider was a great experience. The medical world is tough as it's run by insurance companies in how to bill and charge. The art or medicine is also always changing so there is always something to learn. It's tough and not every job is a great fit- but if you love serving people, it's a great decision.

Medical Dr.s can work many hours on end. They have to be on-call in addition to regular hours. Financially it may be hard in the beginning because new residents don't always make much money and may be in debt from school loans. Eventually it will be worth it financially and you can afford a comfortable life.
