Hello! This is a great question. Each branch of service has varying qualifications, however, all of them have standard qualifications as well. These include: Age, ability to pass the ASVAB (military entrance test) and certain background criteria. For more information I would suggest you visit the nearest recruiting station to you, or research each one online. Hope this helps!
Scott, thank you!

In addition to Scott's answer, you will need to pass physicals and be in the path for high school graduation (you can join while in your junior year, as I did, or you can wait until graduation). Once you enter basic training, you will need to pass a physical fitness test in order to progress into the full training program. I suggest you practice running 2 to 3 miles, getting strong in pushups and sit ups as these are not only timed but are only counted when performed perfectly. The better prepared you are physically, the more you can focus on the rest of the training. Best of luck to you!

You'll spend a day or two completing pre-enlistment steps. These include taking the ASVAB, having a physical exam, meeting with a career counselor, and if you're accepted, taking the oath of enlistment. From there you'll receive orders for basic training, usually to start within a few weeks.
Every branch of the U.S. military is struggling to meet its fiscal year 2022 recruiting goals, say multiple U.S. military and defense officials, and numbers obtained by NBC News show both a record low percentage of young Americans eligible to serve and an even tinier fraction willing to consider it.

Thank you for the advice.
