To become a cosmetologist find a beauty school or there’s high schools that offer the classes.
Learn as much as you can about all aspects of hair. There are great books on how to become a cosmetologist. Your local library will have it. Also learn the business side it will expose you owning your own salon
Most states require 1000 hours some more. Your school will tell you how much you will need.
Full time about 8 months
Part time 1 year. After school state requires a test you need to pass to become a cosmetologist
Massachusetts Schools
Empire Beauty
Mansfield Beauty
Tony and Guy to name a few
Good luck

Some of the best schools in the Tampa Bay Area are the Aveda institutes, Paul Mitchell, Summit Salon academy. These are all branded schools, so I highly suggest looking into which brand, and school mission align best with you and your core beliefs!
