Lesly’s Answer
Hello! A pre-med program is created to include all the essential scientific and lab components necessary for further education in the medical or healthcare field. Pre-med isn't a major on its own, but instead, a program that guarantees students complete all the mandatory courses to be eligible for medical school. Best of luck!

If you are thinking about entering the medical field, the classes you take will be very similar regardless of your major. Whether you want to be a doctor, PA, nurse, etc., you are still going to have to take the same core classes. These will include chemistry, biology, often math, psychology, etc. There will be some differences especially as you get to higher level classes. Different schools also have different pre-requisite classes. You can often find what classes, tests, volunteer work, research, etc. is necessary for each school by looking on their website (they will typically have a section outlining pre-requisites). Another thing to be aware of is that you can study multiple things. Don't be afraid to branch out and try humanities, languages, engineering, art, or whatever else interests you while also taking your pre-requisite courses!

Leticia,
As you can imagine, pre-med is quite challenging. In a sense though, it is no different than the other majors. That is, as challenging as it may be, with dedication and hard work, it can be very enjoyable.
I think it is much easier if you love what you are doing, so the end point (medical doctor) is one thing, but if you can make the process enjoyable you would be way ahead of the game. It is also much easier the more you know abut the process, so keep asking these questions to as many people as you can and get as much of a feel for the process as you can.
Hope this helps.
