HI Raina,
I didn’t know what major(s) I was passionate about when I applied for college. I’m very grateful that I got accepted to a state university which offers many major choices.
I later headed to college major/job/career that I am good at and/or is available. Having more choices for me to explode had helped me.
Best wishes,
Alice

If you are good in math, science and writing, an engineering degree will open up 33 more paths in 4 years. They include many main stream careers and some unrelated careers. But having a STEM degree specially an engineering degree gives a HUGE advantage.

It depends on the person, but the best way to figure out what you enjoy is through practical experience. Studying in a classroom can be completely different to the real world working experience. I was undecided on my major until my junior year in college, but I knew that I was interested in math and working with money. If there is nothing you are currently passionate about, I would recommend taking a wide variety of classes your first year on topics that you think you might be interested in. Spend some time looking into careers that you might want to pursue take classes that can help you with that goal.

To pick a major I would actually focus on eliminating things you are definitely not interested in. Things you are eh about keep. Many schools have a wide variety of choices and some things are similar but distinctly different and academic advisors are there to help you clarify and decide. There are also career assessments at most caterer centers at colleges that can also be helpful. Usually the first year or so the college will require you take general education courses so that may help you gather some information.
