Technology is so integrated and sometimes even invaluable to our daily lives, so wouldn't it be great to learn about it? Computer science is in the center of all these technologies, whether it's the internet, the applications you use everyday, or the digital devices everywhere, or in many infrastructure that supports the society.
As a field of study, computer science is an area that will satisfy ones who craves for instant gratification: most things you learn in college as a computer science major you can apply right away and see the results. A lot of problems that you have to solve are more like fun puzzles. It feels good when after many tries you get it right. Furthermore the logic and problem solving skills you acquired from the education are all supricingly applicable in daily life even in areas that are not tech related.
You mentioned that you find computer science interesting, so it is great to have a career in an area you already find interesting. If you study or find a job in something you are passionate in, it makes going to school or work fun, turning it from a grind to something you enjoy and look forward to everyday.
As a career, computer science is a relative new area in human society, it is here to stay with a lot of potential of growth. To put it simply, there won't be a problem of finding good jobs in the area for many years to come. Not mentioning that a lot of these jobs are very well paying and provides good work-life balance.
If you are in the field of computer science, it is quite often to find yourself at the cutting edge of technology. There are also opportunities to do good to the world as a computer scientist or as an engineer, there are many issues in the world would benefit from expertise in computer science.

Hello,

I honestly feel if u have the opportunity and resources take it and go to college. When I went to college close ppl around me mention how it is difficult t to find a job in college if u go that most 95 percent come out with no guaranteed job. I quickly realized that college is just the tip of the iceberg the rest is up to you. I used my college degree as a license for everything outside of more depth that I wanted to know more of I would go invest in my self-time to well know those resources. College gives u a jump starts to many opportunities if u is being proactive in college you will reach to that tech dream job.

Hello,

Choosing a major in school is probably one of the most important decisions in your life, because you don't want to be stuck doing something for the rest of your life, if you don't enjoy doing it.

That being said I feel taking up Computer Science/Software Engineering as a major, sets you up for challenging situations each day. As a software engineer you are expected to solve ambiguous problems, come up with solutions and think out of the box at every step. It's also a career path that is very diverse and has multiple avenues to explore like Hardware engineering, UI/UX, Data Analytics, Data engineering and of course software engineering (back-end development) among other things. This major also allows you to interact with some of the best and brightest minds across the globe and truly make impact on a global scale.

If you feel that any of the above points resonated with who you are as a person, then you should go for it.

Vivek Ranjan recommends the following next steps:

Find a Mentor
Go to tech conferences

when i first started down my path of computers, i just always assumed life was writing code

having now been in the industry for 15y, i can say IT in general is just so massive with so many things you can do around it

analyst, designers, engineers, programmers, consultants with specializations in specific software, security, SOC....the list is massive

starting down that degree path opens so many doors in so many applications and fields. everything has an aspect of technology these days, possibilities are somewhat endless on how you engage. tack on much of these roles and jobs being remote, you're able to work for any company from just about any where

best of luck!
