Hi Jennifer,
As someone in software sales who majored in business management, I have always regretted not having a more technical degree. Computer engineering degrees build a lot of the technical skills necessary to succeed in the technology world, and I've seen electrical engineering majors enter the technology world successfully as well.

Comp Sci is a great foundational major that can set you up with a good base to them pursue more specific areas in tech. Other majors could be informatics (study of informations lifeline in different work fields like healthcare or business), data science (more statistical based tech role), data analytics, computer engineering, and even electrical engineering.

Victor’s Answer

Hello Jennifer,

It all depends which side of tech you want to be, but in general good foundation degrees to pursue a career in tech are these ones: Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Computer Programming. I feel that if you have a background in programming, you can go into many directions in the tech field, most of the skills that tech jobs will require are coding, so that's something that you will learn for sure in programming.
