Once you narrow it down to careers you are considering based on your interests and speaking with people in those fields, you can also leverage the web to view salary expectations and trends/ forecast demand for those careers. However, I know several people who have changed careers over time and I myself have worked for startups, in consulting and in 4 different areas of investment banks, so you don't necessarily just get one chance at it!

Choosing a career can be confusing. One thing to know for sure is that there are ways to change a career in the future. Some careers are easier to change than others but knowing there is always that option for you to change paths may be helpful to you right now. Focus on what you like doing. If you like talking to people, research on jobs that can give you that opportunity. If you like working with your hands, read on jobs that will let you be creative. Try writing down 3-5 things you like doing and then research at least 3 jobs for each. The more you read about a profession, the more you’ll learn if you will like to pursue it or not.
