What are important factors to consider before choosing a career and what are the benefits of minoring in a subject in college?

I'm looking for pursue aerospace engineering as my major in college but I am also very interested in anthropology and world history. I enjoy both math and history but enjoy history a little more. Even so, I am unsure of the jobs that it would provide.

I feel like my answer will be a little “political” but here it is. So, the reality is history may not be the best major if what you want is money for comfortable living. Now, many people still study it though because they simply enjoy it so much and that is totally fine, BUT youll have to understand there is a strong chance you will need to further your education (masters or PhD) if you want to find a career in that field. This can get very pricey, and even after having that advanced degree the job options may not be very lucrative money wise. I want to emphasize that Im not trying to scare anyone away from a more liberal arts based major but only to bring light to some of the struggles that come with it. If money and stability is a big concern for you and your future I would consider a plan A and plan B option. Plan A could be majoring in history and enjoying it while Plan B is simultaneously majoring or minoring in something like comp sci to have skills that can easily translate to jobs with lucrative pay. That way if you just dont want to keep going with history because of per se academia burnout then you have another set of skills to work with. You could also major in something more “lucrative” future pay wise and then minor in history. So plenty of ways to fit them both in but sacrifices may have to be made to fit them in. Liberal arts majors are very important and by no means “less than” stem majors as they help grow your knowledge and enrich our humanities.
