Connor’s Answer

Hello, some things you may want to ask to learn from others and better help determine options for your future:
- What are some helpful tips to determine if I should attend college
- I am undecided between (option 1) and (option 2), what are the pros and cons of each?
- I want to start my own business, what are some things to consider if this is right for me?
- What are some useful classes to take to better prepare myself for my future career in ____?
- When comparing universities, what are some items i should prioritize in my search

Hope this helps!

Tim’s Answer

When I was in school, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I graduated. The expectation in my family was that I would go to College, which was great, but even while I was there I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. I ended up getting into Teaching because that's what people in my family did and what I grew up around.

Eventually I transitioned from teaching to working in business and I was blown away by all the different types of careers that are out there, because business was always such a vague term.

When I started looking at leaving teaching, I felt stuck because I wasn't sure if any of the skills I had would translate to other careers. Fortunately, I had a friend point out to me, that I could use the skills that I had developed in planning lessons and teaching students to begin creating trainings for employees at companies and I became an Instructional Designer.

I would recommend thinking about the things that you enjoy doing, and asking around on here if anyone has any advice for different careers that could leverage those skills.
