It is a long hard road to become a doctor and then once you have the degree the real work starts. So first step is to figure out your "why." Why do you want to be a doctor? And my advice is to go beyond just helping people because everyone will say that. Do some soul searching and deep thinking over your favorite cup of coffee and figure out what makes the MD degree your goal.
Then look at the finer details. I am an american medical student and about 10 months away from graduation. So I can only speak to that process. But something that is universal is good grades. Put in the time to learn the basics. In undergrad it does not matter what your major is as long as you have all the pre requisite courses (bio chems and biology). Then there is that small little thing called the MCAT.
But beyond the grades and exams to get into medical school you need to be a well rounded person. So volunteer somewhere consistently, do some research, shadow a doctor, explore and master hobbies. Show the admission boards that you bring alot to the table.
Study hard in school and aim for a high GPA
Undergrad-get all the pre req classes
study for and take the MCAT
keep up with hobbies, volunteering, research
Set your "why" for medical school and lean on this when the journey gets hard

You need to know what Country you want to practice in. If it is in the United States you have to do a BA with particular courses that you need for medical school. Then you take the MCAT which is the entrance exam. Volunteer work and internships also, help your application.
