Emily’s Answer
I worked as a CNA during my junior and senior years of high school, and I am now looking for a job as a freshman in College. The schedule was honestly challenging at first, since I worked 2 jobs while in school. However, something that really helped me was applying for jobs with a realistic FTE (weekly hour requirement), since you can always pick up additional shifts without feeling burnt out. I also think it is important to find time for yourself outside of work/school to destress after challenging shifts.
One of the most challenging job duties I experience as a CNA is being able to manage your time effectively. During the job itself you get a lot of autonomy over long 8-12 hour shifts- however it can quickly become overwhelming. Make sure you plan out your shifts and communicate with your nurses at the beginning of the shift/during report.
I decided to become a CNA during my junior year of high school. I was looking into careers in the healthcare field, and I thought this would allow me to connect with patients and gain clinical experience. I would definitely recommend this job to anyone looking to start in healthcare, or anyone who just wants to have a meaningful impact in patient lives.

Thank you for giving me advice.
