Thank you for your question. This is a very common question to many students. Usually, you would take the major which is related to your career inspiration.
Below are my suggestions :
1 . Think about your hobbies, interest subjects, etc. and the related careers
E.g. If you are interested in Maths, would you like to be an accountant, banker, engineering, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc.
If you are interested in Arts, would you like to be a designer, artist, art teacher, etc.
2. Find out more on these careers and identify what you have interest on
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school counselor, your parents, etc.
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Find out the entry criteria of the relevant major in the college
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Hi Jennifer,
This is a great question! There are a few options:
1. Start with a Liberal Arts or Interdisciplinary degree which exposes you to many different subjects. When you study many different topics, you might find yourself drawn to one in particular. You might find yourself saying...I really like this area of study more than this one.
2. I would strongly recommend you try some internships or job shadowing. Look into jobs that look interesting to you. If you shadow, you can ask that person what they studied. Or you may find that you really dislike a job and aren't interested in that major at all. Since we really get a major so that we can get a job, working backwards can sometimes help.

Hi Jennifer,
Try to understand and figure out what your real interests are. This will always veer you into the right direction. What subjects interested you while at school. Take up a volunteering job to help you decide what course to take. Try to take college level classes/ AP classes too to make better understand before you enter college (if you are not already at college). Summer jobs in the field you are interested in may also make you figure out what career to get into. Consult you advisor for more info.

Hi Jennifer,
depending on what you want to do career wise can help determine which major you should pursue. One option that can help ensure that you're moving forward while considering which major to pursue is to start by taking your core classes needed to complete a degree. There are also additional resources online that offer personality quizzes that can help align with common majors based off of your interests.
