Peyton’s Answer
Hello!
After graduating High School, I went to college in the Fall. During college I worked during the summer at Internships and during the school year my senior year. I highly recommend getting an internship during the summer because it really gives you an idea of what life will be like post grad. I was not used to working from 8-5 during the school year and had I not done that during my college summers it would've been a much tougher adjustment when starting my first role out of college. I then graduated from College with a Degree in Public Relations and I took my first job in the Technical Staffing & Consulting industry in a Sales position. I moved into another Sales role from there and ultimately learned selling was not my passion. I now work as a recruiter and am super happy doing something I love.

Hi Jeffrey! Graduating from high school and college are two milestone moments in life that come with great reward. After graduating high school, I applied for part-time jobs over the summer, so I had some spending money while I was in college. During the summer after my junior year in college, I applied for an internship at a local accounting firm so that I would get some experience before graduating college and finding a full time job. Then, after graduating college, I accepted a position at the accounting firm I work at now! In my personal experience in working at both a big and small accounting firm, I think starting at a small firm was beneficial because I learned a lot of the important soft skills and procedures to perform in a smaller 1 on 1 environment which made it easy for me to adjust to working at a large accounting firm today. But after graduating both, high school and college, don't forget to take a little bit of time to recognize your achievements and relax a little and enjoy your summer before you start working!

First thing I did after graduating high school: I worked more hours and saved money.
If I hadn’t, I would be forced to work more hours during college which would have meant less time to study, relax, and get involved with the organizations offered on campus.

Hi Jeffrey,
After I graduated law school I decided to take a few weeks fro myself. I joined the alumni at my university and started to look for jobs so I could pay off any expenses and loans that had come up while I was studying. This includes credit card. In England they give you a grant (financial aid) each year that you don't have to pay back if you are a British citizen. In the US its different as you know.

Hi Jeffrey! I graduated college with a degree in French Languages and LIteratures. I took a job in electronic publishing and software development through a friend of a friend. Since it was 'project' work, work a few months, then nothing, I travelled for extended periods of time in Europe. I have never regretted this decision even if my 401K is so much smaller than my friends.
I will also say everything is possible - it's possible to backpack your 20s and have a large 401k in your 50s - so take some time to be honest about what you really want your life to look like in 10,20,30,40 years. Write up a game plan and it's ok to pivot / change it up midway through.
Mine started with wanting to learn every language and travel the world, but, then transitioned to teaching for several years, then paying my bills acting for several years, then going back to my tech roots and working in tech support.
I read a lot of autobiographies for inspiration and self-help books to heal any negative thoughts or patterns that held me back from achieving success and feeling happy during the journey.
Best of luck to you!
Imagine your life in decades, 20s, 30s,40s,50,60s,70s,80,90s,100 - imagine this in detail and journal.
Make lists of the goals you want to achieve, maybe make a vision board even.
Research / read autobiographies / read interviews of people who have done what you would like to do.
Join a great service community - great place to network, do good, have balance in your life
