Smruti Ranjan’s Answer

Business is one of the most popular majors among college students. And it's easy to see why. Many business positions are in demand and pay above-average salaries. The business sector includes in-demand fields like marketing, finance, accounting, and human resources. Business majors work as analysts, consultants, managers, and executives.

A bachelor's in business is the most common educational requirement. During a bachelor's degree, which typically takes four years, majors complete foundational business courses and upper-division classes in their focus area. Students can also pursue a minor or electives to specialize their skills.

Some business schools offer accelerated one-year business master's programs. During these programs, grad students take advanced courses. Many programs also incorporate an internship.

Dear Sang,

I went to college for business to start with. I think the basic is to make sure you have good grades to start your college.
It probably will help if you can understand which field of business you would like to specialize in: business administration, business management, marketing, human resources, business law, accounting, finance, and etc.

All the best.

Brooke’s Answer

Hi there,

I would suggest going to college for business and taking a bunch of different business classes so you can determine what type of business you want to do: Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, IT etc. But while figuring out what you want to study make sure you take advantage of doing as many internships as possible so you can see what the job actually entails in real life. A lot of time in college, people end up changing their majors after getting to experience what it would be like in the day-to-day.

Dylan’s Answer

To add on to the others, most business programs start out with an overview of the different majors. For example, you will have to take a marketing class, a finance class, a management class, etc. before you take most of your major classes. So, you will get to see which one(s) you like.

It is typically pretty easy to switch between business majors your first couple of years because all the business major perquisites are the intro classes. This also makes it not too complex to two major in two business majors if you find more than one subject interesting.

Hope this helps!
