Fred's answer would be my recommendation also. They require the first year to be mostly general core courses and if you have taken AP or College prep classes already then you may have already fulfilled those requirements however most websites either have a page that can confirm transfer credits or when you speak with admissions and they review your records they can advise you of this. Either way expect the first year to be basic classes, then year two you move into more targeted options.

This will depend on what kind of program you want to take and what school that you go to. Different majors will have different class requirements. If you narrow it down to a specific major or program, that will make it easier for us to help you.
Your advice was so helpful!

Every college and university will have a web page. You can go to any of your choice, and look at what's required. As Brandon implies, the details will depend on your major. Obviously a biology major will have different requirements than a math major, although there will almost certainly be some overlap.
Schools tend to require some general courses - math, history, English, humanities...Then your degree program will have additional specific requirements within that discipline, along with a few "take three classes from this list of 10" type options.

Thank you, Fred for the advice.

That will depend upon individual college. Most schools with a 4-year program require you take some literature, some math + science, some social science (like history), and one foreign language. That covers the first 2 years. Then you will focus on your major field. The idea is to give you a TASTE of the world before you decide on a specialty. There will be some variation on this. Look up each college in which you are interested and see what they require you to do.
