Being knowledgeable about what's happening in the world is a good way to prepare. International Relations (IR) focuses a lot on history and past decisions and actions by governments and international organizations so getting familiar with a broad range of information and theorizing about what actions were taken would be helpful. Get comfortable reading about major IR theorists (Waltz, Von Clausewitz) and theories (Realism, Neo-realism) and seeing the world through their point of view. You could also start developing your specific interests within IR such as economics, trade, diplomacy, politics, humanitarianism, etc. by interning or volunteering.
Thank you!

International Affairs, International Relations, International Development, Global Security, Global Health, Journalism, Political Science, Business, Economics, or English.
Relevant extracurricular activities with a leadership and global focus, and internships will be key to entering the field of international relations.
