Is a finance or business degree better for a stock broker?
Being a stock broker is the career which I have been looking at the longest but I am not sure whether a finance or business degree would be better for the job.

Hi Alejandro,
I think it's awesome that you're interesting in becoming a Stock Broker. I have a Business Degree which is super flexible in terms of all the paths that are available with the degree. I am a Project Manager but have held varies roles such as Supervisor, Customer Lifecycle Manager, Customer Support Manager and Sales Implementation Specialist to name a view. Having a Finance and/or Business Degree would definitely pave the way towards a Stock Broker position. Some things I learned on my journey that may be helpful to you as you decide which profession you'd like to pursue would be to find a Mentor in the field you're considering and meet with them at least once a month. Also shadow with the Mentor if you are able to accompany them to work to get an understanding of what a typical day would look like. Check to see if there are any internships available(paid or unpaid), this will also give you exposure to that position. Read up on the job responsibilities. This can be found via a google search. Basically learn as much as possible about the specific area you're interested in.
I hope this helps. Again, it's awesome that you have a general idea of the profession that you're interested in and where to start by obtaining that Business/Finance Degree.
Best of Luck,
Karen
Obtain a Mentor if you don't already have one
Google search the profession you're interested in to obtain the background/responsibilities
Shadow with someone who currently works in the profession you're interested in pursuing
