How can I be a lineman?
I am a junior in high school and I want to get into some sort of trade. Right now I have my eyes set on being a lineman. How do I get into being a lineman? What options are there other than an apprenticeship?

Hi Bradley,
Let me pose another trade: HVAC technician and combine with that HVAC controls and you will make a nice income right away with a somewhat lower risk than being a lineman. There are multiple programs available at most junior colleges and through other educational forums where you can train on how to become a refrigeration mechanic and controls specialist. Something else to consider.
Given the growing emphasis on air quality and energy savings, jobs like these will only increase as time goes on and there are fewer and fewer qualified technicians available right now.

https://www.linemancentral.com/states/nebraska has a list of training program in Nebraska. There are certificate programs as well as apprenticeships. I suspect both will require similar hands on work experience hours for licensing.
You'll have to investigate which training employers prefer.
