Hello! I can speak for my native state of California. You are required to get your "guard card." This certification is universal for most jobs. It's very similar to having a POST certificate as a police officer. The next thing worth brining up is whether or not the job you are applying for is armed. Job applications will specify. If you do, that is a separate certification. Typically jobs that are armed are more hazardous in nature and will have a higher pay rate.
