Jesse’s Answer

In the post-pandemic era, companies are now open to choose if they want to embrace remote work, force a return to office, or some hybrid model "in-between".

However, many firms are finding that when they force a return to office, workers who were more comfortable in a remote environment will then look for an employer who has decided to continue allowing remote workers.

So to answer your question, I think it varies widely depending on what companies are doing for their return to office plan, and how focused they are on employee retention. Those companies who are not trying to retain their workers will likely see them start looking for better opportunities, and those companies that force a return to office on a mostly-remote workforce will see those workers leaving to stay remote.

Companies who are open to hiring globally now have a choice to attract and retain the best talent to fit within their organizations. It is incumbent on them to stay in tune with what works for their employees.

Overall I don't think career trajectories will change if employees find a career path that interests them and an employer that continues to support them.
