Hi Stefan- a minor generally is a secondary area of study. Some majors have minor requirements as a part of the degree and some students pursue a minor that has nothing to do with their major. You definitely don't have to think about that until after your first semester at college. Make sure that you understand how a minor relates to the major that you are considering pursuing. And, just know that at the vast majority of colleges students can change their major with no impact to their time to graduation. You need to be a self advocate and make sure that you get to know your advisor well shortly after you arrive on campus. It can be overwhelming, but there are resources for students. You just need to pay attention to emails and information.

A minor is a secondary area of study. This is a great way to supplement your degree with supportive knowledge to better equip you for the workforce. For example, if you major in Journalism and minor in business, it would equip you well to report on business beats for a media organization.
