How does college life differ at big schools compared to smaller schools?

There are many answers to this question. I can share a couple of my personal observations.
Some smaller schools do not have a developed sports program (some do). Sports are usually huge building blocks of festivities and community building. Sometimes smaller schools do not have the staff support or funds to provide for extracurricular groups and clubs like fraternities and sororities.
Larger schools are usually bustling with many different activities. You can participate with a lot of people, or you can get lost in a crowd where others may never know your name. Smaller schools allow more neighborly interactions where everyone can know your name.
I also want to point out that smaller schools can help with academic achievement because the smaller student body allows for more personalized attention from teaching staff.

Hi Aislin, one of the biggest differences is that in a smaller school you can get to truly know more people because you see them more frequently. In larger schools, you may meet someone one day and not see them again for months.
Big schools offer a number of additional extracurricular activities that may be of interest to you. Smaller schools often don't have the budget and focus more on building culture and community.
Classroom sizes may be larger in big schools so you may not get an intimate learning environment that smaller schools sometimes offer.
Overall, larger schools can feel like big cities and smaller schools like small towns.
