Brandon’s Answer

Possible issues that someone may have when it comes to speaking about the weather, would mostly stem from problems with public speaking. If you are not good with public speaking and get extremely nervous when talking in front of an audience the position can get difficult, especially when it comes to speaking about the weather multiple times throughout the day. The general audience wants to hear a confident weather person, so they are able to have more confidence in their predictions. If you do not have that confidence, it will be difficult for people to trust you. On occasion you might have to present the information with little preparation, and will have to present the information on a last minute notice.

A solution to this would be to take some speech classes, which is recommended by professionals in the business. These classes can help grow your confidence as a speaker and prep you for any issues that would come.

Christina’s Answer

Public Speaking about the weather can be difficult because you will need to ad-lib the forecast. There is not a teleprompter for you to read, you will just speak based off of the slides you have put together. Certainly taking public speaking courses and ones that have you ad-lib as well I think would help if you are worried about public speaking. If you want to be a broadcast meteorologist make sure you study weather and then you also need to be able to explain it to the public. You can practice by explaining weather phenomena to your family and friends because you would not give them mathematical equations to explain what is happening in the atmosphere. Hope this helps!
