What steps should I take in high school in order to study journalism at a strong university?
I am a sophomore in high school, and English has always been my favorite subject. I love to write, especially when I am able to represent stories of those who cannot or struggle to. The field of journalism is one that fascinates me, and I intend on pursuing it in college!

Your best bet to earn skills in journalism is to study at good liberal arts colleges. These schools require a good GPA, and a 3.5 or higher score will give you a better chance of getting into good schools.
Thank you for the advice.

It is always great to start getting experience early. Write for your high school paper if you have one. That is likely your best bet to get your work published and gain experience as a high schooler. If your town has a local paper, see if you can apply for a job or internship there! Even just working as an assistant at a local news outlet can provide valuable experience. Gaining experience and making connections is everything in journalism. You really have to advocate for yourself to find internships and job opportunities within the field. Everything is an opportunity to learn, so don't shy away from summer jobs or internships in journalism!
Thank you so much, I will definitely look into my local paper's potential internships!
