Any type of service oriented job will help you with nursing skills. From waiting tables, being a cashier, babysitting, and housekeeping all can help you be a better nurse. Every one of these jobs is about caring for others. Often you are caring for more than one patient at a time. One of the most important skills one can have is time management.

Nursing is a very wide field. You can be interested in communication, history and even writing. But I would add a strong background in biology and maybe physics.
Consider working in a nursing home or in the hospital for some more opportunities to see careers in health sciences
