What kind of medical jobs could I do during college without an actual degree?

I’m in high school right now, and I just want to know some good next steps during my freshman year of college .

Thank you comment icon You can do whatever you want. Keep in mind this will be your career so make sure you like it enough for long term. I’m a PharmD (Pharmacy Doctor). I love it. Find what fulfills you. 1, Make a plan 2. Find out what pre-requisites you could start knocking off. I wouldn’t take classes that you may not need like underwater basket weaving 101. 3. Stay focused and follow your plan 4. .Don’t wait too late to change your mind if you need to. 5. Believe in your capabilities and focus on the big picture. Adolfo Manuel Suarez, Pharm D.

Kate’s Answer

HI! I was a CNA (certified nurse assistant) and it only required a short class to get certified. I most volunteered and did research during undergrad ( if you can get involved in research I would highly recommend). You can also become an MA (medical assistant) and some jobs will do on the job training. There are other fields like phlebotomy and working as a scribe but these typically don't count towards patient hours (which is something that looks good on medical school applications).

Rita’s Answer

You can volunteer which requires no degree. I have noticed a lot of medical students who perform well were scribes. You actually get paid and what you do is you write (or scribe) for the doctor as he/she sees the patient.
