Hi Carla,

Indeed is a great resource to use. You can tailor it to reflect your experience, interests, etc to see what jobs may be a good fit. There are usually a ton of opportunities on campus, ask your advisor about work study.

In college I used to walk dogs for some extra cash through the app Rover. Not sure if this interests you, but it was easy, and the dogs were cute!

Josiah’s Answer

Hi Carla, I recently graduated from college and had a few jobs during that time. So the first thing I did was a google search for jobs hiring in my local area. Another thing I did was asked my friends/classmates if they had any jobs or advice. A great place to look for jobs is on your college campus. I hope this was helpful and I wish you the best of luck.
Thank you comment icon Thank you for replying. The thing is I study online so I don't really know anyone of my classmates. Carla
Thank you comment icon Gotcha, then I would recommend indeed. I used that platform quite frequently due to easily finding jobs that encouraged college students to apply or jobs not requiring much previous experience. Josiah Cornelius

Karen’s Answer

Your first job is one you will always remember throughout your life, no matter what the job is or how you get it. You will gain some life skills at almost any job such as teamwork, communication skills and network building.

Look for something that interests you or possibly is a fit with your future goals. I believe a position where you feel like you're helping someone brings the greatest satisfaction.

Apply for many and try not to get discouraged with the ones who don't reply or don't work out. Every experience is one you can learn from and a stepping stone to the next.

With every good wish!

Courtney’s Answer

Hi Carla,

It may be a good idea to start with a campus job depending on your schedule. Almost all employers use online applications now so once you find a place you are interested in working, go to their website and find the area for careers. This will show you all available positions and depending on the company, the qualifications for that position. You can also try job sites like LinkedIn, Indeed.com, or temporary staffing agencies as well. These agencies help employees who are looking to hire sift bring in potential candidates for their open positions.

Good Luck!

Paul’s Answer

Are you currently in college and just looking for something part-time? If so, I would suggest filing out applications at retail stores so you can gain customer service experience. This will help you practice your communication skills and public speaking.

If you provide some more details about your current situation, I may be able to provide some more tips. For example, what's your major? What are your hobbies?

Please start with some known sites like linkedin.com. It has the companies listed that are industry specific, generic. So it is easier to choose from.
You may find people there that you know so you can connect with them in the same platform. Also taking advantage of your own college's recruiting facility will be very helpful.
Thank you comment icon Thank you so much. I looked in the site and I hope everything goes well. Carla
