What subjects do I require to become a lawyer?

What subjects do i require in order to become a Criminal Lawyer?

I'm in the 10th grade and in the previous year I chose my subjectsfor grade 10 which are English, Zulu ,Maths Lit, Life science ,Business Studies and history. I'm not sure if they are the right subjects for the career path I wanna take which is Law.

You don't need to take any particular course in high school or college to become a lawyer. But I agree with the above answers that courses that challenges you to think critically and analytically will help. A Literature class really helps you to analyze text, which you will need in law school. I was a Philosophy major in college, particular focusing on logic and reasoning. I would suggest taking a logic class in college because that will really help you with the LSAT (the test you need to take for law school). It will also help you with understanding arguments in class.

I really think you should do something that allows you to be engaged and thoughtful. I am sure you will make a good decision.

Hi Hope, your elected subjects are great to prepare for your career path ahead. You can also consider Government, Communication, as well as courses that improve analytical thinking and relate to how human behavior interacts with institutions. Good luck!
