Dear Tanvi,
Choosing a stream after 10th grade is an important decision, but remember that your passion and interest in fashion can be pursued regardless of the stream you choose. Here’s why:
Any Stream is Fine: If you want to become a fashion stylist, you can choose any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts) after your 10th grade. The basic eligibility for most fashion designing courses and colleges is the completion of 10+2 from any stream.
Arts Stream: Some students prefer to take Arts as it gives them an opportunity to study subjects like Home Science or Fine Arts, which might help in enhancing their skills related to fashion.
Relevant Subjects: Regardless of the stream, you can always look for subjects that might help you in your career as a fashion stylist. For example, if your school offers subjects like Elements of Fashion or Fashion Studies, those could be beneficial.
Self-Learning: In addition to your school curriculum, you can always learn more about fashion styling through online courses, books, and practical experience.
Bachelor’s Degree: After 12th grade, you can pursue a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field. Top colleges for these courses include the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Pearl Academy, International School of Design (INSD), Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT), and JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
Remember, the most important thing is your passion and dedication to fashion. Good luck with your journey into the world of fashion! 😊

Choosing your stream takes some advice and thought, but it is up to you to ultimately make the decision.
I will give you a referral to the Vidya Sagar Career Institute , Ltd as they have some excellent points to consider on this very topic.
In the meantime, something you can do now is create a collection of fashion graphics of styles you create. One of these places is Trend Me . By creating graphics of fashion styles, you can build a portfolio of your talent to show on interviews. It is free and easy to join.
I would suggest that you go to college, preferably a fashion school. You will meet important professionals who may open career doors for you while studying and after graduation. A wonderful aspect of this is that if you want to focus solely on Stylist work you can work independently having your own business. You will also learn about fashion, marketing, styling and many more useful subjects for your career.
The other advice I have is to attend anything related to fashion. Get to know the fashion community in your area. They could possibly be good mentors for you.
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best with the decisons you make on your way to becoming a successful fashion stylist !
