My advice for going into the medical field is to make sure you are passionate about it and that it is a lifestyle you are willing to commit to. It's a demanding and rewarding field that requires hard work and dedication in order to succeed. As you work towards your goal, keep in mind that you should make the most out of any opportunity that comes your way. To help you accomplish your goals, make sure to stay organized and take advantage of available resources such as mentors and other professionals who have experience in the medical field. Additionally, be sure to build a network of support and stay up-to-date on advances in medical technology, practices, and research. Above all, remember to have fun and enjoy the journey!

I think some of the best things you should look into are getting a broad knowledge and doing well in classes. Figure out what you like about the medical field. Do you like understanding what underlies problems in the patient then you would be looking at physician. Do you like taking care of less patients but being with them and helping them through difficult aspects. Do you like the mechanisms of the medications that help out patients pharmacy may be up your alley. Do you like rehabilitating people you may be looking at physical therapy or occupational therapy. Find the things that you enjoy and keep an open mind and i think this is one of the most important things you can do.

Vilash’s Answer

Being a doctor can be a lot of responsibility but it can make you feel that you have a purpose helping humanity. I love helping people with mental illness holistically as I feel it is such a disability experience. I enjoy not just pushing meds but understanding what is driving their illness. I feel sometimes like a detective. For me I have always curious about people and why they do what they do so I’m a strongly therapy oriented psychiatrist that also does alternative medicine. I am starting my own private practice. I love helping people improve the direction of their life. Each field of medicine has different stress and demands. It’s all preference and interest. I like autonomy so I went into private practice.

Going into the medical field is a challenging and rewarding career choice, but it also requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and commitment. Here are some pieces of advice for anyone considering a career in the medical field:

Be prepared for a long and rigorous educational journey: Most healthcare careers require extensive education and training, which can take many years to complete. Be prepared for a challenging academic curriculum and many hours of study.

Develop good communication skills: Good communication skills are essential in the medical field, as you will be working closely with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. Practice your communication skills by participating in public speaking, debate clubs, or other activities that help you build confidence and articulate your ideas.

Pursue clinical experience early: Clinical experience is essential in the medical field, so try to get as much hands-on experience as possible while you are still in school. This can include volunteering at hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare organizations, shadowing physicians, or participating in internships or research projects.

Develop good time management skills: Time management is critical in the medical field, as you will be responsible for managing multiple tasks, patients, and responsibilities at once. Practice good time management skills by creating schedules, prioritizing tasks, and setting realistic goals.

Cultivate a passion for lifelong learning: The medical field is constantly evolving, with new technologies, treatments, and research emerging all the time. Cultivate a passion for lifelong learning by staying up-to-date on the latest research and developments in your field, attending conferences and workshops, and seeking out opportunities to learn and grow.

Take care of yourself: Working in the medical field can be demanding and stressful, so it's important to prioritize self-care. Make time for exercise, relaxation, and hobbies that help you recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Dorothea’s Answer

Know and own your “why”. Why do you want to pursue a career in the medical field?
There will be days when you feel exhausted and you’ll wonder how you ever thought you could do this. On those days, remember your why.
Write down your goals and visions so that you can look at them when you can’t remember them.
Finally, as you enter a career in the medical field, believe and know this: as a professional, your life and work will never be about yourself. Clients always come first. And clients don’t care if you are tired or your back is hurting or you’ve had your heart broken. They are coming to you with their own pain and they expect you to fix it for them. Therefore it is imperative, IMPERATIVE that you take care of yourself because nobody else will take care of you. And if you are not cared for then you won’t be able to care for other people. Know and respect your own limits. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and ask for help when you need it.

Angelin Shamili’s Answer

Hi Brooklynne,

Medical field is a wonderful area where you work and help people who are in need. It's a little stressful environment. Lots of patience and dedication are needed. Though it is stressful, the feel of helping someone and see them getting better makes me motivated. I always make vision board for my future goals. I take pictures of my dream career like what i want to be, where i want to pursue my career, etc and i paste it in my vision board. So everyday i start my day by taking a look at my vision board and it keeps me motivated towards my goal.
