Rafeh’s Answer
To learn you don't need any major, just willingness to learn. I learned computer science and robotics at the same time in one class.
Thank you for the advice.

Probably the easiest route would be to join a robotics club. I did a search on Google for robotics club in San Francisco and found this: https://cafirst.org/frc/sanfrancisco/
Thanks for the advice.

I agree with Rafeh's answer.
To add, if you are already in college as a Comp Sci major, you can join a Robotics club. I'm sure your college has one and if not, make one!
Robotics usually brings together the Engineering majors and Comp Sci majors, so it is a great way to meet new people and gain new skills you normally would not.

Thanks for the question. Yes it is possible to learn Robotics as a computer science major.A strong skillbase you develop as a computer science major is "Coding". A very essential aspect of any robotics system is to introduce "sensing" abilities for the robotic system. The robot should sense/perceive and then act based on that. To develop the sensing abilities, you need to learn from the working environment and then give a set of instructions to the robot (a.k.a "Write lines of Code"). For an autonomous car, the sensing system might be the cameras + lidar which would require algorithms to be written out as code.
Thank you so much for the advice.

Ramesh’s Answer
Many Comp Sci programs have Robotics specialization. This link gives publication based rank of CS Departments with Robotics - https://csrankings.org/#/fromyear/2012/toyear/2022/index?robotics&us .
You can check the Robotics course content for various schools.
UCSD Robotics Institute has faculty from many departments involved - https://cri.ucsd.edu/faculty . You can look into courses taught by the faculty for an understanding of Robotics options.
