Sue’s Answer

Being a nurse practitioner is very rewarding. You are the provider that gets to diagnose and treat your patients complaints. There is a feeling of helping a family member and you really build your small community. You assist in healing of all sorts. Sometimes you are just a good listener. You need to establish balance; too little time with your patient and they feel rushed and not heard, too much time and it’s not cost effective.
Remember that you are a mid level provider. You skills and education are not those of a MD or DO. I think if there needs to be a healthy respect with those you are collaborating with. Your your vary but there will be long hours at times. The salary is very healthy but varies depending on location and type of specialty you choose.
Good luck in your endeavors!

Sue recommends the following next steps:

Follow a MD or DO and follow a NP

Dr. Stephanneth’s Answer

I like the autonomy, ability to be able to start my own business, and of course seeing patients receive the best personable care possible. It is great to work alongside other medical staff to provide great care to patients. When we intervene & the patient is grateful creates a great sense of fulfillment.
