Veterinary medicine is a great profession! Typically a student will major in the sciences while in college but as long as you have the prerequisite courses completed, you can major in anything. It is important to have a strong understanding of the sciences, especially cell biology, microbiology, and molecular biology. You will want to research the different schools but you may also need to take the GRE and have a certain about of volunteer/clinical hours under your belt.
Once at vet school, your first two years you will be building your foundation knowledge by way of lab and lecture. From there, you will start gaining clinical experiences and determining what kind of vet you would like to be (feline, in your case) and begin preparing for licensing exams.
