When you met other teachers how did you feel?
I am asking this question because I want to become a teacher myself. I also have a passion for teaching young kids their basic things that they need to know.#education #educational-leadership

Your passion to teach is admirable! Teachers have a unique bond, and the best are usually very willing to share tips, advice, experience. Have you heard of "Teach for America?" This national educational organization does have a New Orleans presence and speaking with someone there might be up your alley. They recruit and match high performing college grads with under-served educational communities to teach in classrooms (elementary through high school) for a contracted 2yr period after graduation. You don't necessarily have to have a teaching background or experience, though it does help. Their premise is that every child deserves a quality education regardless of race, gender, religion, or socio-economic station. They look for passionate, dedicated people who want to make a difference via the classroom. This could be a possible career goal for you. (How do I know about TFA? My daughter participated, and now works for TFA.) Best of luck!!

After retiring I volunteered to assist a kindergarten teacher. Two mornings each week I work with students one-on-one in helping them learn to read. It is the most rewarding job of all! You might try volunteering to experience the gratification and decide from there what you would like to do.
With every good wish!
