Hello Bre'Shana,
I've been a Physician Assistant for 15 years. I've worked in several specialties including Interventional Pain Management, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Urgent Care and now Occupational Medicine. I've even done Administrative Medicine including Utilization Review and Appeals Management. As you can see, it's incredibly flexible and you can easily transition between specialties. It's a very rewarding career and you are constantly learning. You are well compensated and there is significant marketplace demand, so it's usually not too difficult to find a job. PAs are highly valued members of the healthcare team. Our patients trust and respect us. I chose this path right out of college and went straight to PA school out of undergrad. I went back and got an MBA because I aspire to have a leadership/administrative role in addition to my clinical work. But I absolutely would not change anything. It is an excellent career choice. It's challenging, but well worth it. I hope that helps.
