Military experience for Federal Agencies? worth it or not?

I plan on joining federal law enforcement such as DSS, USSS, USMS, etc and a friend told me military experience is good. I'd join the ROTC program. Thoughts? #special-forces #criminal-justice

Military experience can certainly help. I would tell you to major in something other than criminal justice to set yourself apart. When competing for federal positions often times your competition will be local officers who all have criminal justice degrees. Look into something like psychology, accounting, or finance. Good luck to you!

It's definitely worth it. As a member of the Armed Forces, your main job is to defend our country from threats both foreign and domestic. Just as Security Forces or Military Police being Special Forces will give an added boost when applying for any law enforcement position. Those specialties experience more in depth trainings that correspond to civilian law enforcement.
