TJ’s Answer

I would say any job needs education, more than that, anyone better to acquire a very important skill: innovative thinking. Education gives you the knowledge, while innovative thinking gives you the ability to use the knowledeg cleverly. In any job, who has innovative thinking usually stands out. In terms of how to gain the skill of innovative thinking, check my books on the topic on Amazon (search name TJ Xia).

Hello Ricardo,

There are several resources out there to help you figure out what you are interested in doing. I would suggest going to the Occupational Outlook Handbook. The Occupational Outlook Handbook will give you the following information: the description of the job, general pay information, education/training needed, how much the job will grow in the future. Also, you will find a list of related jobs/careers.

Occupational Outlook Handbook
https://www.bls.gov/ooh/

You can complete an online career inventory; the inventory will help you develop a potential list of occupations based upon your interests.

My Next Move
https://www.mynextmove.org/

I would encourage you to explore the My Next Move website. There is a ton of information about all types of jobs/careers/occupations.

I hope this helps.

Hi, Ricardo,
I admire your honesty and straightforward approach. For a career that doesn't require much education, I do encourage you to consider the military. Why? Because the military provides extensive training to people that seem of appropriate intelligence for the work. So, you would have a job and whatever training was appropriate would be provided free. That can readily take you twenty years, and it is not uncommon for military to retire at 20 years and then accept a similar job while receiving retirement pay. And there are impressive sign-up bonuses.

Although not as structured, there are many jobs in retail where persons are preferred who have NOT had any special training. You might aspire to be a manager at Burgerking or McDonalds. Despite whatever people believe, such companies do promote worthy candidates. All the best to you.

Melody’s Answer

Greetings Ricardo,

I hope I understand your question about wanting a job or career that does not require much-extended education beyond high school. There are several job or career avenues that do not start out with a heavy educational requirement. However, these paths need something more significant to be successful. They often require determination, excellent work habits, and a willingness to deal with lower pay at least initially. I feel it necessary to have you think about what things, concepts, or ideas really get you to WANT to work. I hear that the low or no additional education, but what is it you really like to do in life? Education is a key to your future success, but equally important is tuning into what you understand as what you are gifted, talented, like, or love to do.
For example, I love reading. If I wanted to only read most of my time, then I might seek how to become a professional reader of audiobooks. It would not require much additional education, but I would have to find out about that job. I would have to make sure I have the skills or build the skills that it needs.

Here is a link to a short list of jobs. What most do not say directly is you will have to have some additional education beyond high school. Not going to college or university, but a certificate program. https://homesthetics.net/high-paying-jobs-with-little-schooling/

Best wishes for your future job or career search.
