Hello , dear Luis . Your question is a very good question and it is going to help a lot of others.
Chances of making millions in playing is not as compared to creating the games . Siez from being a consumer to a provider then the millions will come easy.
If not play extremely hard, do what no man has done in the game so as to be hired by the game creator or provider. Thank you.

In 2023 it is certainly not easy for any professional gamer to make millions just by playing the one single game they specialize at. Realistically, if you can make it to the highest professional level AND be able to maintain that professional level of play for many years, winning global tournaments consistently, stay recruited by the highest level of e-sports organizations, obtain sponsors, partake in advertisements like you might see sport athletes in (you won't see that many out of e-sports yet), have your own merchandise being sold and have a constant stream of content through YouTube, twitch or other social media platforms. Then you might be earning some good money. Sorry to say, this path is not for everyone. But ultimately what you'll find is that like anything that makes money, it is how well you do business in the gaming world.
If you want to do it solo (without a large-scale organization's help) what most people find is that you don't need to be the 0.01% who are the best players in a particular game. It certainly doesn't mean going solo is easier but finding your way as an "influencer", "content creator", "character" inside the gaming community seems much more lucrative than simply being the best of the best and staying the best of the best. As mentioned above you can take advantage of social media to create your "persona" or if it works, just be yourself. If you've got charisma, you are passionate about what you like e.g Fortnite, spend some time learning content creation, editing videos is not out of the average person's reach with many apps able to assist with the heavy lifting these days. Obviously, you are competing with many many others in terms of viewership and popularity, however sometimes all it can take is that one viral video that can turn someone's life around (for better or worse).
I have skipped a lot of the nitty gritty but hope that gives you an outlook at a direction towards your goal.
- As a person who's also always dreamed about making it big in the gaming world. But ended up doing pretty ok in the tech world.

The same answer as, "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice, practice, practice." As I understand it, there are two elements to being a successful professional gamer: 1) innate ability and 2) grit to complete deliberate practice.
1) Do you think you have the ability? Are you consistently ranking high on leaderboards? Do others tell you how good a player you are?
2) Do you have the grit to treat this like a full-time job, and then some? Deliberate practice is more than just "playing the game." You'll have to have a plan, identify your weaknesses, improve on your strengths, and develop both your physical and mental toughness.
The raw truth is that without innate ability no amount of deliberate practice will get you into the ranks of millionaire professional gamers.

Generally, you make money by providing a product that either nobody else sells, or by providing a BETTER product than all your competitors.
So, if you want to make money playing Fortnite (or any other game), you have to have something that other players don't. Be better, funnier, faster, provide better commentaries...something unique.
If there are Fortnite leagues, you could aim to become one of the best players and earn sponsorships.
If you want to stream your live play on Twitch, you need a reason for people to watch YOU rather than the thousands of OTHER Twitch streamers.
But honestly, the odds of making millions seem pretty slim.
