Of course, 2020 has now challenged our ability to physically attend workshops and conferences (for a good list of conferences in your area, check out Poets & Writers (www.pw.org). However, my advice is different, and well-suited to our current diaspora. My suggestion is to stop focusing upon publication and write. Write every day, rain or shine. Write when you don't feel like writing. When you have developed a rigorous and daily writing routine, work will accumulate for you to revise and review. Then, with a dozen pieces ready for readers, Poets & Writers magazine lists numerous magazines for submissions. Before submission, become familiar with the type of work published by each magazine - submit, and move on. Assume it will be rejected. My experience is that well-wrought stories and poems will find their audience over time.
