In college, are there specific classes I have to take in order to work as a child nurse?

I know that there are different types of nurses. However, I would like to work with children because I believe I work and bond well with children, Specifically, would I just qualify as a register nurse and work from there? #nurse

Yes, you are right!

Many educational nurse programs will include a pediatric nursing course in their curriculum (especially if you are pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, BSN, degree). However, it is not a requirement to take such a course to be a pediatric nurse. All you technically need is your RN license.

Once you are an RN and have gained work experience in pediatrics, you can work toward becoming a Certified Pediatric Nurse. This is optional....RNs without this certification can and do with children/in pediatrics. People pursue this path to advance their careers and gain more specialized knowledge.
