I love a culture-driven environment that focuses on service to others rather than worshipping the dollar. Trust in an environment and empowering employees to be their best; to do their best. INnovation would need to be at the center of every experience we create to ensure we grow comfortable wtih the process of failure as a learning experience to achieve greater success.
Thank you for taking the time to help.

Hi Dejame,
I am a network performance engineer at Verizon and I love what I do. The environment is a hybrid environment, meaning I spend some days working from home or the field and other days in the office. I love that flexible environment, and the ability to go out into the field and test our network and see how performance changes overtime. It's even more rewarding to see when a solution or parameter I worked on improves the customer experience.
Specifically for coding, since I see that you're interested in that, you will likely work from home, in an office or a hybrid of the two. My advice is to heavily research the companies you are applying to and make sure they're a good fit for yourself.

Hi Dejame, I love where I work. I'm a mechanical engineer working with new product development for med tech. Some of the key areas that have made a difference on the different teams I've been with mostly focus around company culture: let's say a mistake happens, my team is big on finding solutions and doesn't spend much of any time on who made the mistake. Instead it's a question of "how did this happen how can we help make it less likely to?" focused around process improvement. It creates an environment where people are willing to try things and innovate without fear of punitive response if things don't go right.
Another thing company-wide is a focus on our customers, in our case surgery personnel and patients, as well as on our own employees and communities. We all are encouraged to take time off to volunteer, the company helps give money to where we give money, and within my team there's flexibility in our schedules to take care of our own lives. The people I work with really care about making a great product for our end users and providing worth to patients and surgery staff. Similar to Keith's answer, the company and the people are driven by more than just money and it's really nice.
