Drew’s Answer

I work in technology and my university degree is environmental engineering; those experiences shape my response. Lean sigma training makes me think of a tool called a SIPOC: suppliers, inputs, process, outputs, customers

Applying the SIPOC concept to, "Types of work related to agriculture" ... plants and animals have different considerations that I'm not attempting to address.

SUPPLIERS: real estate agents, Department of Agriculture, seeds and fertilizer vendors, tractor/farm equipment rental or sales, OSHA
INPUTS: land/real estate sales or leasing, land management requirements, water management, seed and fertilizer, employees
PROCESS: storing materials, growing food, harvesting, processing food for purchase
OUTPUTS: packaged/prepared food, compost, waste products
CUSTOMERS: farmers markets, local markets, food distribution, waste management companies

That is a start

Drew recommends the following next steps:

Make a page for each letter in SIPOC
Research each letter individually as related to Agriculture ... Agriculture Suppliers, Agriculture Inputs ... adjust search criteria as you review results ; for example, if you don't get much info with "Agriculture Inputs", look for "what do I need to grow and distribute food on a large scale?"
Look for the "work" related to each element of the SIPOC
What questions does this information help you answer? Why did you ask it in the first place? Did you get what you expected? Might need to go back and rethink the SIPOC responses to ensure objectives are met.
