Does the FBI or CIA like for an employee to have a certain major?

If I go into the FBI or CIA, do I need to take certain classes in college. Can I major in a field like engineering or business and still get the job, or is there a specific major they are look for when hiring? #criminal-justice #business #engineering

Terry’s Answer

After having worked at the CIA for 25 years, I think it is safe to say that it employs people with a very wide array of degrees, everything from linguists, history majors, engineers, science majors, economists, political science majors, etc., etc., etc. It definitely prefers people with at least a master's degree in most fields, but it is possible to get in with a bachelor's degree. Hiring is extremely competitive and getting past the security process is challenging. I can't speak for the FBI. Best of luck.
