What is it really like being a teacher?

I may be interested in teaching (probably younger kids), and I was just wondering.

I have been teaching for 27 years. It is challenging, unpredictable, and joyous. Like any profession, there are obstacles. But for me, the rewards outweigh the obstacles. Every day is another chance to connect with a young person.
You can make them feel valued and important. You can offer support and attention. All of us need that.
Teachers are the unsung heroes of the world. If you want to get a glimpse of the teacher life, try observing
a teacher in action.

Stephanie’s Answer

Hi Abby,

Being a teacher is an interesting, wonderful calling of service. I always knew I would be a teacher. Today I train teachers ...... after 30 years! I love knowing that what I plan can help a young person grow and thrive and be successful. Even if you want to teach younger children, what you do helps them in middle school, high school and college. Think of teaching as a service and calling ..... you have to truly care about and respect children and believe that they can succeed. It's not easy, some days you will work very long and hard. But it's worth it if you truly believe all children can succeed. If you believe this, you will be an effective teacher. Think of compassion ... service .... calling ... vocation.
