What does it take to get "a foot in the door" with the federal government?

For someone pursuing both a criminal justice degree as well as a philosophy degree with an interest in law enforcement, I want to know what one would need to do to get a good starting platform for a position as a special agent in any one of the many federal investigative agencies.

Benjamin,

I'd recommend you talk to a recruiter as soon as possible. Many federal agencies hire experienced officers. I don't know how many positions go to people straight out of college. And, surprisingly, they sometimes look for other degrees, such as accounting, which enable the officer to handle complex white collar crime cases., or technology, which is increasingly used by both criminals and cops. That is, the criminal justice degree, which seems to be very popular, might not set you apart from the rest of the applicants. You may need to take your education in a different direction. MAY. Please talk to a recruiter.

good luck~

You have to have a bachelor's degree and you must be have applied by your 35th birthday. Some big agencies have age limits and restrictions. The federal government wants you to be 35 years old or younger when you seek employment in their agency.
