Hi angelica O. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

I agree with the previous answer that being afraid when you start your college journey is normal. There can be a whole lot of "newness" which can be overwhelming. But exposing yourself to that newness can also be AWESOME!! In my opinion, one option that you and other new students have is to take in that newness with an open-mind. More often than not, you will come across people (faculty, other school staff, other students who came to the school before you) who can and will give you good guidance on how to adapt to your new environment. In my case, I was able to participate in many advertised meetings from different student groups that invited new students to come and learn.

In my opinion, one of the great things about being a new student is the ability take in new things and learn. You may surprise yourself and discover that your fears subside faster than you thought they would...which could directly help you relax and get into the business of enjoying the experience and doing your best.

I wish you all the best!

Hi Angelica,

It's pretty normal to be scared. A lot of students are scared when they first go. It's a very sudden change. However, from my experience, even when I was scared, I got to meet some great friends, and really liked my experience. I wish I could go back haha. I hope you choose the right school, and it might help going to one you know people at.

Best,
Herman
