It is difficult to build connections in an industry like commercial dance. Once you get your big break it is a bit easier, but how do you get the connections to get that big break?

Hello:

LinkedIn, that other individuals specified, would gift a tremendous help in the networking potentials that the userbase unwraps. Beyond that, volunteering in various sectors, even outside of dance, could help awaken more connections that could present a deeper pocket of helpful hearts to reach out to their own connections.

Keep at it. Diligently focus and unrelentingly imprint your steps towards the goals you want. Sometimes, people end up surrendering and foregoing that dream and never getting the chance. A woman auditioned to a talent show, and after 7 times, was approved to appear on the show. 7 years and her dedication, determination, and unrelenting desire finally found its big break.

Appreciation for your path.

God Bless,

Hi Grace:

Network ... Network ... Network ... the more people who know that you are looking to purse career opportunities in Commercial Dance ... the better your chances of learning more about the industry, getting hired, etc. Sometimes it is not what you know, but who you know. Also, family, friends and high school teachers and guidance counselors may know of contacts in the Commercial Dance industry, so ask them as well.

Have you inquired with the Commercial Dance Studios in your area? My recommendation is to inquire with the highly rated Commercial Dance Studios and ask questions with the Director of the studio. It will be great to ask if you can shadow for a day to see how the studio operates, different positions of responsibility, etc. Shadowing is the means where one spends time with a company to learn more about the work environment, different professional roles, day to day operations, etc.

On Google, you can search for Commercial Dance Studios in the Charleston, South Carolina area. It is best to review studios that have a rating closer to 5.0 in order to get a better experience. The higher the rating and the higher number of high ratings will guide you to the best Commercial Dance Studios.

LinkedIn is a great platform to connect with professionals across various industries, related or not related to your own field. One can search and view a company's profile, available open positions, professional profiles, etc. Within the news feed, one can view postings and announcements from other professionals.

With LinkedIn, members can send InMails to directly to each other without being connected to one another. Professionals who are directly connected to each other can send regular LinkedIn messages to each other. Professionals who pay for the premium service on LinkedIn have access to the InMail service feature.

Directly from LinkedIn Help:

"InMail messages is a premium feature, and it allows you to directly message another LinkedIn member that you're not connected to. If you have a Basic (free) account, then you can only directly message LinkedIn members that you’re connected to. You must upgrade to a Premium account to use InMail messages. You can’t message a member if they’ve chosen not to receive InMail messages in their message preferences settings. You’re allotted a specific number of InMail message credits based on your subscription type. You can find the number of InMail message credits you have from your My Premium page."

"Premium InMail message credits can't be used to send InMail messages on Sales Navigator or LinkedIn Recruiter."

Hope this helps and best wishes for your education and future career in Commercial Dance!

I think you might be surprised by the number of people who would be willing to support you. Websites like LinkedIn allow you to search and connect with those that can support you. A personal note that you respect their journey and would love to connect and chat can yield results.

Otherwise, standout by doing simple things well. I’ve gotten a few handwritten notes asking for me to offer mentorship and in each case I’ve been willing to at least connect once and offer advice.

Worst case, those who teach within the industry likely have connections and teachers/professors might be more approachable than someone famous:
