What would be the best undergraduate major to be a veterinarian?Pre-veterinary or Animal Science?

I want to become a veterinarian, but i have no idea which major would be better. The reason for this question is because I am not sure if animal science would be best as your undergraduate major, but i also see that Pre-Vet is mentioned as an undergraduate program but i don't know if that what be best as your undergraduate major. #veterinarian #animals #animal-health #pet

There are certainly people with more experience to help answer this question, but I'll give it a shot -- my father is a veterinarian and I considered vet school as a possible path in college. As far as I know, acceptance to vet school is very similar in requirements to pre-med, e.g., biology, chemistry, calculus, etc. I don't think it's critical that you're pre-vet, or that you even major in a science; it's more important that you fulfill the prerequisites for the programs you might want to attend. Doing well in those prereq courses is probably more important than your overall college GPA.

Here's a link to the AVMA, which might be a good place to find other helpful info (https://www.avma.org/public/Careers/Pages/vet-school-admission-101.aspx)
