What college should I attend if I want to become an acupuncturist?
Hello! What colleges should I consider if I want to become an acupuncturist? What should I study for undergrad? I live in NY and I can't really find any colleges in the NE region of the US for acupuncture.

I would search for an ACAHM accredited program, which will allow you to become nationally certified. See https://acahm.org/directory-menu/directory/ and https://www.nccaom.org/certification/becoming-certified/
Thank you!

So, if you want to build a career as an acupuncturist, a holistic health practitioner, or have a passion for ancient natural medicine, I would say that’s a tremendous alternative mindset.
.
Now come to the point that we need to address.
There are many acupuncture and oriental medicine schools in the USA with many affordable programs.
NY has not many but a couple of decent schools of oriental medicine with good reputations. One of the best I recommend is the Pacific College of Health and Science. It has a broad range of subjects in oriental medicine fiends to choose from, and also they have branches in Chicago and California.
They have an extensive clinic to work with too.

Most acupuncture programs available are primarily offered at the graduate level, generally requiring students to have completed an undergraduate degree beforehand. If you are currently considering a Bachelor's degree program, it would be beneficial to explore a program that provides you with a solid foundation in various relevant subjects. These subjects can include, but are not limited to, biology, anatomy, physiology, holistic health, herbs and formulas, as well as natural or alternative medicine.
Additionally, since many licensed acupuncturists tend to establish their own private practices, it would be advantageous to equip yourself with some knowledge in business and marketing. This additional expertise can provide you with the necessary skills to successfully manage and promote your practice upon completing your acupuncture program.
Furthermore, if you plan on staying and practicing within the northeastern region of the United States, it is essential to start building your network and community as soon as possible. Establishing connections with individuals in your field, including fellow students, healthcare professionals, and potential clients, can greatly enhance your career prospects and reputation in the acupuncture community. Networking events, professional associations, and social media platforms are excellent resources to begin expanding your professional circle.
In summary, while pursuing your Bachelor's degree, focus on selecting a program that covers essential topics such as biology, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, holistic health, or natural/alternative medicine, while also addressing the business and marketing aspects of a private holistic health practice. Additionally, begin networking early on to establish a strong foundation for your future career as an Licensed Acupuncturist in the northeastern United States.

I graduated from Pacific College of Health and Science, which has a campus in NYC. They're one of the best acupuncture schools in the US. There is also NESA (New England School of Acupuncture) in Massachusetts, also top-rated.
